Solving
Behavioral Problems in the Workplace
I
have 20-plus years of
experience both working in and consulting to organizations. I've worked
with business owners, executives, managers and HR professionals in
small businesses, large corporations, non-profits and academic
institutions. These are some of the "people issues" and behavioral
problems I've helped resolve:
- Anger or hostility
- Communication
problems
- Co-worker conflicts
- "Difficult" people
|
- Death of an
employee
- Stress and burnout
- Substance abuse
- Traumatic incidents

Anger Management
Unmanaged
anger can be a
major liability for any organization. Angry people damage personal and
professional relationships, are less effective at problem-solving, and
cause worry about workplace violence. Concerned about an anger
issue in your organization? I can help to:
- Teach your managers and
staff how to deal with angry customers or co-workers
- Evaluate the threat
potential of angry or hostile individuals
- Provide anger management
classes or individual coaching
Conflict Resolution and Dealing with Difficult People
Does
it seem like you spend
all of your time either dealing with conflict or trying to avoid it?
Conflict, like change, is inevitable, but most people lack the skills
for handling it effectively. Your organization may benefit from:
- Training on managing
conflict and/or dealing with difficult people
- Direct intervention with
a specific work group
- Individual coaching to
resolve conflict and improve communication
Substance Abuse
One
person with a drug or
alcohol problem can affect many others in the workplace, including
managers, coworkers, and customers. Efforts to address the problem
often fail due to lack of understanding of the dynamics of addiction,
denial and co-dependency.
My
three-step process
results in timely identification and effective intervention as well as
prevention of substance abuse and other addictive behaviors in the
workplace.
I am a
qualified Substance Abuse Professional, who will evaluate, refer for
treatment, and monitor any employee in a safety-sensitive job who has
tested positive for alcohol or drugs.
Stress Management and Resilience
After
the re-org,
downsizing, a new management team - then what? In today's workplace,
sometimes the only constant is change. This accelerated pace can cause
stress, and we know that unmanaged stress leads to interpersonal
conflicts, lowered productivity, and increased medical claims.
Through employee seminars,
management consultation, and/or individual coaching, I can help your
organization to become more resilient and your employees to thrive, not
simply survive!
