Counseling and Psychotherapy

I am a licensed, experienced therapist, who works with adults, both individuals and couples. These are some of the issues I treat in my practice:

  • Addictions
  • Adult ADD/ADHD
  • Anxiety, Panic Disorder
  • Co-dependency
  • Depression, Bipolar Disorder
  • Grief, Loss, Loneliness
  • Job Stress
  • Life Transitions
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Marital Crisis
  • Parenting Challenges
  • Relationship Issues

  • If you are suffering from any of these problems, or simply seeking to change self-limiting habits of thought in order to achieve greater happiness and success in life, I can help!

    When Should You Seek Counseling?

    • You're overwhelmed by a crisis, or just have too much stress
    • You're seeking new approaches to old problems
    • You're confused about what to do, or worried you'll make matters worse
    • Your health, well-being, job or relationship is in jeopardy
    • You'd simply like to become a better, happier person

    How Can Counseling Help?

    • Get expert advice from a licensed professional, based upon clinical training and many years of experience
    • Helps you to look at your situation more objectively and perhaps shed new light on an old problem
    • Allows you to share your worries and sort out your feelings in a safe place
    • Explains yours and others' behavior and helps to change dysfunctional patterns of thinking or behaving
    • Teaches you new and more effective ways to deal with people and situations

    Choosing the Right Therapist

If you are considering therapy for the first time, or if you've been dissatisfied with previous therapy experiences, you may be wondering how to find the "right" therapist for you. Because I regard this decision as an important one, I encourage you to call me to discuss your concerns. I'll tell you if I think I can help with your particular situation. You can decide whether to schedule a face-to-face session, and if you find that you are comfortable talking with me, we can decide to continue. If not, I will offer names of other therapists or resources who may be a better fit for you.

    My Philosophy and Therapy Style

Clients generally find me to be kind, gentle, thoughtful, and non-judgmental. I also have a sense of humor, and believe in the healing power of laughter (as well as tears). I take an active role in the counseling process, asking lots of questions to make sure that I understand correctly and giving feedback about what I see and hear. I respect my clients' personal values, religious beliefs, and personality styles, and have worked with people from all walks of life. My clinical approach is "eclectic" (which means "whatever works"), with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral techniques and client-centered, supportive psychotherapy. The average length of treatment for my clients is about six months, though it can vary from weeks to years.
